Wessex Counselling & Psychotherapy (WCP)

Purpose of the Role
To be the main contact to the WCP trainees when they to find appropriate therapists during their training by holding the approved therapist list. To be involved in the process of selecting and appointing new training therapists.

Responsibilities:

• To be available by phone or email to help trainees find an appropriate therapist while they are in training at WCP
• To be aware of any potential boundary issues with approved therapist see trainees and make the appropriate course lead aware of any potential issues.
• Responsible for informing the appropriate course lead of any serious concerns about individual students.
• To be part of the selection panel when appointing new training therapists
• and to notify the Chair of the WCP training Committee if there are any professional complaints against you.

Essential characteristics:

• The person holding this post will not be involved with WCP traiing in any other role.
• The person who holds this post should be an experienced psychoanalytic / psychodynamic psychotherapist or psychodynamic counsellor and on the register of either the psychotherapeutic psychotherapy section of UKCP, the BPC or the independent section of the UKRC (which presupposes BACP Individual Accreditation).
• To have the ability to respond promptly to enquiries and keep to deadlines.
• To have experience of providing psychotherapy for students training in psychodynamic counselling or psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
• To be familiar with the WCP training programme and the therapy requirements of the Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Training.
• To have a comprehensive knowledge of the accepted training and qualifications of psychoanalytic psychotherapists and psychodynamic counsellors so that she/he can read CVs of therapists with understanding.
• To have good communication and liaison skills.
• To be able to maintain clear and confidential records as in line with the Centre’s policy.

Accountability
The therapy advisor is accountable to the Trustees and to the WCP Training Course Leads.

Confidentiality
All confidential notes and memoranda, course materials and any information concerning the business of WCP which are acquired, received or made by you during the course of your employment shall be the property of those organizations and shall be surrendered by you on the termination of your contract.
