Pastoral Lead
Location: Remote and Frome, BA11

Salary: £15 per hour (under review) for 4 hours pw/36 weeks
Purpose of the Role
To ensure the provision of pastoral care to Wessex trainees on the following courses: Introduction to Counselling; Intensive and Year-Long Foundation; Diploma in Counselling, and, when running, Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (PDP) and Counselling Children and Young People (CCYP).
To lead the team of personal tutors to ensure that a pastoral care service is delivered to all trainees.
To ensure that an appropriate pastoral service is offered to students and trainees presenting with special needs, in accordance with WCP’s approach to Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Through the personal tutor team, ensure that WCP provides regular pastoral support to all trainees according to the frequency specified in the Handbook for each course.
• Liaise with the Chair of the Training Executive, the Training Executive, WCP management and WCP staff and trainees to ensure that the pastoral service is meeting training requirements.
• Liaise with the Training Coordinator as required to ensure that tutors are able to book rooms for tutorials, and that trainees are aware of the mechanisms for booking additional personal tutor sessions
• Hold regular meetings with personal tutors, on at least a half-termly basis, to create cohesive teamwork, and to deal with any issues arising from the pastoral work.
• Brief trainees on the purpose and function of the personal tutor system and encourage them to make full use of their tutors.
• Attend regular meetings as follows:
o Monthly meetings of the Training Executive.
o A fortnightly 1:2:1 meeting with the Chair of the Training Executive
o Attend Foundation and Diploma (and PDP when relaunched) team meetings, as required.
