Tavistock Trauma Service: autumn 2023 lectureBook tickets
Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust
A Woman’s body: site of assault, site of trauma, site of resistance.
Hosted by the Tavistock Trauma Service, and led by Dr. Joanne Stubley, the final lecture in our autumn 2023 external lectures on trauma will be delivered by renowned psychoanalyst, psychotherapist, writer and social critic, Dr. Susie Orbach.
Dr. Orbach will speak about new approaches and theories to working with bodies today. The lecture will outline the various ways in which women’s bodies are attacked and how this creates a state of hypervigilance, whether walking home from school, at work, or literally under attack in a conflict zone. She will introduce the BODI – Body Observational Diagnostic Interview – an assessment and clinical tool useful in addressing the intergenerational transmission of body and eating issues.
