CROSSING BORDERS: Clinical, Theoretical, Cultural and Political Implications in our Changing World
We will be pleased to welcome you to the University of Essex – and online – next Spring to spend time together exploring aspects of our conference theme “Crossing Borders”.
The University of Essex offers an ideal venue for our conference: situated within 200 acres of parkland, the campus is a 1-hour train journey from London, 2 miles from the historic market town of Colchester and a 1-hour drive from Cambridge. We have secured accommodation (until 7 January) in nearby hotels and student halls of residence. The conference is also Online.
Programme Outline:
THURSDAY 11th APRIL: Pre-conference talks and workshops:
“Cultural Complexes and Race” with Fanny Brewster (US), Elizabeth Brodersen (Germany) and Helen Morgan (UK).
FRIDAY 12th APRIL: Theme: “Borders Around Identity: Cultural Expressions of Trauma”. Plenaries by Monica Luci (UK/IT): Karin Fleischer (Argentina) & Andrew Samuels (UK).
SATURDAY 13th APRIL: Theme: “Borders Around Identity: Gender Fluidity, Self in Culture”. Plenaries by Robert Tyminski (US) & Jay Barlow (UK):
SUNDAY 14th APRIL: Theme: “Borders Around Identity: Working Within and Across Different Faiths”. Plenaries by Leslie Stein (US/AU) & Murray Stein (US/CH).
There will be an optional Social Dreaming Matrix on three mornings, Breakout Panels on two days, a Cocktail Reception, and a Gala Dinner and Dance.
