As winter fully sets in, we have a selection of events and community news to get excited about. Keep reading for an update from the BPC Scholars' Community, we have an especially exciting announcement that we'd love you to read more about and get involved with.

We are delighted to announce our upcoming Scholars’ Network event! This will be held on Friday, 24 January 2025. A special event to bring together long-term and new members of the Scholars’ Network since its launch in 2016.

The event is the first of its kind and will be hosted at the Freud Museum in London, where you will have the opportunity to connect with other BPC Scholars from across the Network

During the evening there will be welcome speeches from Lee Smith, the Chair of the BPC, and from Greg Ross-Sampson, our Chief Executive. You will also have the opportunity to meet members of the Scholars’ Committee and to learn more about one another’s research projects and publication plans. We hope to see you there!

Read Scholar Dr Deborah Wright's book chapter 'Dwelling-Spaces as Sites for the Virtual Consulting-Room' that looks at the shift to virtual rooms and spaces in psychotherapy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Scholar Brett Kahr's newest book is based upon four decades of archival research and oral history interviews with many of the founders of British psychoanalysis. He provides us with insight about such iconic figures as Donald Winnicott, John Bowlby, Ursula Bowlby, Marion Milner, Enid Balint, Masud Khan, and Ronald Laing, as well as two chapters about Sigmund Freud’s final year of life as a “British” psychoanalyst.
