Association of Jungian Analysts

The Association of Jungian Analysts is a training organisation that promotes Analytical Psychology, based on the concepts of C. G. Jung. We integrate classical, archetypal and developmental approaches to Jungian analysis in our theory and clinical practice, whilst also recognising the spiritual dimension in human beings.
At AJA, we are open to new developments and findings in a variety of related disciplines including contemporary psychoanalysis, creative arts, literature, philosophy, sociology, anthropology and the sciences. We aim to be culturally aware, inclusive and non-dogmatic.

The AJA Jungian Analytic Training for Qualified Psychotherapists is designed specifically for psychotherapists, who are already qualified and experienced, but who want to train to become Jungian analysts. The principal aim of the programme is to build on previous training and current clinical work.

Applications are invited from psychotherapists who are registrants of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and/or the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), (or equivalent). Successful completion of the programme leads to membership of the Association of Jungian Analysts, and of the International Association for Analytical Psychology (IAAP).

The training consists of a seminar programme, clinical work under supervision and 3x weekly personal analysis. It normally does not take less than four years. The seminar programme consists of 20 weekend modules taking place over two years. The archetypal and prospective character of the unconscious forms the centre of clinical theoretical work. In a practical sense, this means that the orientation of the training is on healing through symbolic transformation, as well as the diagnosis, aetiology and treatment of symptoms. Dream analysis is an integral part of the therapeutic approach as is analysis of transference and countertransference.
