Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with Adults (British Psychotherapy Foundation)

British Psychotherapy Foundation

The Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of the British Psychotherapy Foundation offers a clinical training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy leading to membership of the BPF and registration with the BPC.

The training programme is strongly rooted in the tradition of the intensive psychotherapy trainings previously provided by the British Association of Psychotherapists, the Lincoln Clinic and Centre for Psychotherapy and the London Centre for Psychotherapy.

The next Training intake will start in January 2014. The deadline for applications is 1 September 2013.

Requirements for training

- individual psychotherapy with an approved PPA training therapist, three times a week for a minimum of one year before starting the training

- a degree, or evidence of equivalent academic ability

- some familiarity with psychoanalytic thinking

- personal suitability for undertaking clinical work at an intensive level

Following acceptance, those without psychiatric experience will need to do a psychiatric placement, either before or during the training. Those with little clinical experience will need to undertake a clinical placement.
