Salary: 7 sessions a week: £47,154 – £52,936 pa pro rata

Role description:
We are advertising a Band 7 0.7 WTE post that are linked to our specialist psychotherapeutic provision. The post holder is expected to work on three different places as a psychodynamic psychotherapist such as three sessions based within PATH (Psychoanalytic Assessment and Treatment Hub) in the Adult Complex Needs Service in Tavistock Clinic, two sessions based at the Royal Free Pain Management Service in the Edgware Community Hospital (contracted by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust) and two sessions at Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire.

The post holder will contribute to our internationally renowned Psychotherapy service which has contracts spanning several CCG / STP areas and offers an increasing range of more contemporary / applied models alongside Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. There are specialist clinical teams within the department which you would have the opportunity to engage with. The department contributes significantly to the National Training Program for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy .which encompasses the M1 Interdisciplinary Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy training and the North Central London higher Medical Psychotherapy Training.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected to work on three different places as three sessions based within PATH (Psychoanalytic Assessment and Treatment Hub) in the Adult Complex Needs Service in Tavistock Clinic, two sessions based at the Royal Free Pain Management Service in the Edgware Community Hospital (contracted by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust) and two sessions at Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire.

In PATH the post holder is expected mainly to treat patients in brief individual therapy, psychoeducational group and MBT group. In the Pain Management Service the post holder is expected to be responsible for offering psychological therapy consultations to patients referred by members of the Pain Management team and will work alongside other members of the Psychological therapies team. The post-holder is expected to offer individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy and is expected to signpost patients, for other interventions in the PMS, such as a group Pain Management Programme or individual cognitive behavioural therapy.

In the Hertfordshire Outreach Services, the post holder is expected to provide brief once-weekly individual psychotherapy (typically up to 16 sessions) as well as individual psychotherapy on a more intermittent basis in Hemel Hempstead. In addition, the post holder is expected to offer consultations to GPs about patients and potential referrals, and joint assessments with GPs for patients.
