Principal Psychotherapist / Psychologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Psychologist or Principal Psychotherapist to join the Lighthouse Recovery Service leadership team in Brighton & Hove.

It is a rewarding time to work at Lighthouse which has now been operating successfully for over 7 years. You will therefore be able to lead on ongoing service developments, including the development of the therapeutic community model with staff and members while supporting and developing other local pathway initiatives.

You will work as a member of the Lighthouse team in a leadership role, providing a high quality, specialist psychotherapeutically orientated service to clients where there are highly complex presentations including a history of trauma. You will also support local services who work with this client group through consultation, supervision, formulation and training. As part of your supervisory role, you will oversee the clinical placements and supervision for trainee doctoral, clinical and counselling psychologists.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the systematic provision of specialist psychological assessments and interventions for our members including the skills based STEPPS (Systematic Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving) programme as well as our therapy strand groups.

You will be expected to take a lead in the monitoring and evaluation of the service. In particular to deploy professional skills in research and audit, ensuring psychological frameworks are incorporated in the provision of high quality care. You will link in with other personality disorder services nationally, to share and expand the evidence base in this area.

We are seeking a person with extensive experience and skills in working with people with personality disorder including the supervision and training of teams who work with this client group. You will need a robust understanding of group work processes and be able to support psychotherapeutic practice in the team through staff reflective groups.

You will have excellent communication and leadership skills, ensuring high quality clinical governance and supporting the team to thrive.

The post holder will contribute to the Personality Disorders Pathway (Complex Emotional Difficulties) and will be a member of the Complex Emotional Difficulty Clinical Academic Group (CAG) to ensure excellent evidence base and governance of interventions for people with personality disorder within Brighton and Hove.

Please note there are two job descriptions available for this post- Principal Practitioner Psychologist and Principal Adult Psychotherapist or Psychological Therapist.
