Perinatal Parent-Infant Psychotherapist

An opportunity has arisen for a part-time band 7 psychotherapist with perinatal and parent-infant experience to join our Wandsworth Perinatal Mental Health Service, South West London & St George’s Mental Health Trust. The role is initial fixed term, but it is likely that there will be further opportunities within the service.

Role: Perinatal Parent-Infant Psychotherapist
Location: Wandsworth, London (office base Springfield Hospital, Tooting)
Start date: ASAP
Salary: NHS Band 7 – £47,154 – £52,936 (pro rata per annum)

Role description

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a real passion and commitment to parent-infant working, to be able to understand and appreciate the complexities of this kind of work, including intergenerational aspects and the importance of this on the early emotional and social development of the child and implications for lifelong wellbeing.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced therapeutic practitioner to join our service. Ideally, you will have a level of experience working in this area and be able to use initiative and imagination to help develop the service. You will be required to have good communication skills and an appreciation of systemic dynamics when working with very complex families.

You will also have a good understanding of working with professional networks, building relationships multi-agency and be able to work autonomously at times.
