External Examiner – Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy
Location: Home based with annual meeting in Bristol
Start date: November 1, 2024
Deadline for applications: October 19, 2024
Salary: Honorarium plus expenses
SIP offers BPC-accredited trainings in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy and we are recruiting an External Examiner (EE) for both trainings. We will also consider enquiries from people who would prefer to work with only one of the trainings.
The EE has an important role in our training. The EE offers scrutiny of the training as a whole and an independent view of the assessment process, reporting to SIP and to BPC on SIP’s training. They may also act as a confidential and objective advisor to the Training Committee should circumstances require it.
In relation to the training as a whole, the EE can observe, question, and advise in order to ensure that the standards SIP is setting, and the assessment procedures SIP is using, are appropriate to the training and qualification of BPC registered psychoanalytic psychotherapists.
The EE will oversee the mid- and full-year trainee reviews, reading and commenting on a sample of reports, and attending the review meetings. They are required to send an annual report about SIP's clinical trainings to BPC.
External Examiners normally should be senior members of their own
Institutions, CPD compliant and from the Psychoanalytic/Jungian Analytic
category of the BPC Register. They should not act as External Examiner for
any training where they have trained or where they are a member of the MI.
