About Clare Roust
I am a Mentalisation- Based Treatment (MBT) Practitioner with a deep commitment to helping individuals understand themselves and others more clearly. My clinical approach is grounded in the principles of MBT which emphasizes curiosity, reflection and the capacity to make sense of one's own and others feelings, thoughts and behaviours, especially in times of stress or within relationships.
My therapeutic stance is active, collaborative and is informed by an attitude of not knowing and having a genuine interest in peoples unique perspectives and what matters most to them, whilst being non- judgemental. We work together to strengthen your capacity to mentalize - the capacity to reflect on your own and others' mental states, such affording you the ability to respond to challenges with greater clarity, flexibility and self compassion.
My approach is grounded in the here-and-now of the therapeutic relationship, with attention to how patterns of thinking and relating emerge.
I work with adults experiencing difficulties such as emotional instability, relational difficulties and/or the effects of trauma. I am passionate about helping clients develop a more coherent and compassionate understanding of themselves and others and as such improve their sense of self and develop a more connected way of relating to others.
