Ash McMahon
Child, Young Person and Family Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
About Ash McMahon
Ash is a qualified Child, Adolescent & Family Psychotherapist with experience working across a wide range of clinical presentations: from aggression, depression, and self-harm to the impact of trauma, loss, and adverse childhood experiences. Ash’s practice is rooted in psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches, while also drawing on contemporary research in neuroscience alongside trauma-informed and relational practice.
Ash has specific expertise in working with young people affected by violence, exploitation, family conflict, school avoidance and adolescent males/young men navigating pressures around masculinity and identity. He works directly with parents and carers navigating conflict and communication difficulties, supporting them to better understand their child’s developmental needs and to foster stronger, more secure relationships within the home.
With two decades of professional experience working in multiagency contexts, Ash’s services can extend to consultation with other professionals, including schools, social workers, etc – ensuring that his therapeutic input is attuned to the wider systems that hold the young person in mind.
