Mary Willis
Child, Young Person and Family Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
About Mary Willis
I trained at The Tavistock & Portman centre and offer work with children, adolescents and families. My core training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy however I also have training in evidence based approaches such as Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. I find the combination of the psychodynamic framework and evidence based approaches provides a toolbox for the patients and families- and their schools- I work with to use therapy in a joined-up way, that creates a space for long term change and relief from mental health and behavioural challenges.
I have a keen interest and skill set in supporting families heal generational traumas, bond after disconnections and find love & understanding for one another. Also, I find offering those in their adolescent years a space to have a metaphorical ‘hand hold’ through the confusion that can be teen-hood important therapeutic work. Lastly, I work well with parents (single parents or parent couples) to think about their role and appreciate how challenging parenting can be, and offer support and relief from this by connecting with them & offering non-judgemental, loving support.
