Gerlandina Russo
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
About Gerlandina Russo
I am a relational psychoanalytic psychotherapist working with individuals and couples, as well as a group analyst working with groups. I understand human beings as fundamentally relational and I use the therapeutic relationship itself as a central part of the work. By paying close attention to what unfolds between us in the here and now, we can explore how past and present relationships shape emotional life and patterns of relating. This creates space for developing awareness, understanding, repair and change within a safe, collaborative space.
I specialise in working with trauma and dissociation, supporting clients to explore thoughts, feelings, behaviours and bodily experience, and to recognise unhelpful or entrenched patterns rooted in earlier experiences. My work is integrative and somatically informed, reflecting my belief in the close and complex relationship between mental and physical health.
Alongside my clinical practice, I have been developing a model of Metabolic Health-Informed Psychotherapy, which brings together psychodynamic theory, neuroscience and a whole-person approach to wellbeing. I also have specific training and experience in working with Neurodiversity, which informs my clinical understanding and shapes how I attune to each client’s unique inner world.
My aim is to support clients in developing greater emotional insight, reconnecting with themselves and building more authentic and fulfilling relationships - both with others and with themselves. I listen carefully, reflect openly and create space for meaningful exploration, while also encouraging movement towards resilience, self-understanding and lasting change.
