Hayley Smith

I am a psychodynamic counsellor working with psychoanalytically informed therapy. I have a MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy and work with individual adult clients either in-person or online, typically meeting once weekly for open-ended or time limited therapy.

As a psychodynamic practitioner I’m interested in how past relationships and experiences connect with and shape how someone relates to themselves and also to others in the present. By gaining an insight into how our past may have shaped us we may better understand our ‘inner world’ by considering the deep-seated patterns by which we – often unconsciously – live our lives, even when we’re aware that the patterns might be causing us difficulties. With greater understanding of these patterns we may be better equipped to make sense of how we function psychologically; which may lead to emotionally healthier ways of being and relating.
