About Emma Bartley

I wonder if you have you ever done something that you wished you hadn’t done or said something that you really didn’t understand why you said it? Do you sometimes repeat the same behaviour over and over again, while not really wanting to? Do you ever have dark thoughts that you don’t understand which you don’t want to have in your head? Sometimes we do, say and think things that we don’t and often can’t understand when thinking through it by ourselves. That’s when counselling can really help.

I can offer you a safe place to talk in confidence, whilst offering you another perceptive on what you have shared. I find that that having a protected space, where you can think out loud, can be the starting point for change. You can know and trust in that whatever you say will be contained within the walls where we meet, that your words will be considered in depth, and your feelings will be cared for and held respectfully. There are no limits placed on what is appropriate to say, so no matter what you need to talk about, it will be safe and acceptable to say out loud.

My area of expertise is with counselling people who have suffered somehow in childhood or are presently struggling as a child. This wouldn't necessarily just be from a specific traumatic experience, such as bereavement, abuse or neglect. It could quite likely be from something less specific. Sometimes just having a difficult relationship with a parental figure can have a massive impact on life. Or it maybe that you are a parent who is concerned that you're repeating your parents behaviour with your own children and don't understand why.

Children can suffer from low self esteem, anxiety or worry, this can cause issues at school and/or at home. A lot of children, especially when still young, do not understand or have the words to describe how they are feeling. It is my job to help children understand more about how they are feeling. I also support parents alongside of working with their child.

I have peaceful, private room located at in Cheltenham town centre, only minutes away from any town centre car park.
