Those Who Come After
Organised by:
Raphael Jewish Counselling
Description
Speaker: Professor Stephen Frosh
This talk explores some second generation Holocaust literature to discuss ‘postmemory’ as a mode of traumatic identification and postmemorial work as a form of working through. Active memorial work that allows repetitions to be turned into processes of recovery is essential for the laying of ghosts to rest.
(Stephen Frosh is Professor in the Department of Psychosocial Studies at Birkbeck University of London. He is an Academic Associate of the British Psychoanalytical Society and an Honorary Member of the Institute of Group Analysis; he is a past Vice Dean of the Child and Family Department at the Tavistock Clinic. He is the author of many books and articles on psychoanalysis, psychosocial studies and other topics; his most recent books include Those who come after, Simply Freud, and Hauntings).
