Andrew Samuels and Valerie Sinason speak about their experiences of power in their clinical work.

The power imbalance between the therapist and client/patient is an ever present factor in psychotherapy. Andrew Samuels takes the idea of the Wounded Healer, regarded by Jung and widely ever since as a crucial factor in the effectiveness of psychotherapy, and explores how it can also be used to close down consideration of the Shadow aspects of being a therapist. Valerie Sinason draws on many years of experience of working with people who’s lives have been profoundly injured by the abuse of power by others, and considers the healing power of truth, understanding and attachment within the therapy relationship.
