Description
Institute of Psychoanalysis and Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy presents:
On Psychosomatic States, Dr Kathryn Pugh
Chaired by Psychoanalyst Dr Frances Roper
This paper explores psychosomatic states that are a communication of inchoate feelings where there has been a failure in containment. An analysis is presented in which the body becomes represented in the mind. Alongside a compulsion to repeat and freely evacuate there is a struggle with individuation, separation and guilt and a wish to be more fully known.
Dr Kathryn Pugh is a child/adolescent and adult psychoanalyst and a Training Analyst for the British Psychoanalytic Society. She was a Consultant Psychiatrist in a Central London Psychotherapy service for over twenty years. She has trained at the Paris School of Psychosomatics.
