Conor McCormack – Identity and Social Change
Organised by:
Wessex Psychotherapy Society/David Chidgey Membership number: 25096
Description
Wessex Psychotherapy Society’s February talk, will be by Conor McCormack, a Bristol-based Lacanian psychoanalyst on ‘Identity and Social Change.’
Because of the seductive wholeness of what Lacanians call the mirror stage, identification with an image provides a thrill. But is the satisfaction we derive from looking at the part compatible with social and personal change? Conor takes a personal journey through 20th century subcultures, elaborating on a host of supposedly ‘difficult’ psychoanalytic concepts along the way.
Please join us on this voyage of discovery on Wednesday February 12th either in person at the Hilt, Chandlers Ford (directions below) or on Zoom. Doors and Zoom open at 7.15pm and the meeting will formally start at 7.30pm, ending at 9pm.
Members attend free (annual subscription £70 for 8 events) or we charge £20 on the door. Discounts available for trainees/retired.
