Addiction Pandemic? Attachment, Desire and Chemical Distractions

Description
Addiction is on the rise in the time of pandemic. We see perhaps the return of the repressed – as our usual distractions are out of reach and issues that may have been kept at bay are brought into consciousness.
As such, “Addiction” is changing its parameters, and is no longer the exclusive preserve of the chronic alcoholic or junkie.
We talk to cultural theorists and clinicians from different treatment strata to share their experiences, personal and professional, and to see if the usual suspects of attachment, desire and distraction can be explored more deeply when viewed through a psychoanalytic lens and from a psychodynamic perspective.
