“Notes on Recent Theoretical Developments in Post-Bionian Field Theory.”
Dr Civitarese is interested in recent developments in field theory and Bion re-interpreted within field theory. He considers negative capability, the concept of O, intuition and some possible connections with Jungian concepts.
Giuseppe Civitarese MD, PhD, is a psychiatrist, training and supervising analyst of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society (SPI), member of the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) and of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA). He is a past-editor-in-chief of the Rivista di Psicoanalisi, the official journal of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society He lives and is in private practice, in Pavia, Italy. In 2022, he was a recipient of the Sigourney Award.

Nine innovative experiential, clinical seminars will be considering how combining aspects of Jung’s thinking with that of Bion enables communication of emotional depth, power and authority with an extended perception creating connections with early and traumatised, distressed states in all patients, including those who may have been considered unsuitable for analysis. The approach enables transformation of cycles of defensive structures into an approach of emotional integrity.

The meeting point of Jung and Bion can create a new voice and vision. With an interaction of innovation and orthodoxy, it opens up an intensified perspective, both compassionate and ethical with an authority personal and linked to the infinite. One effective in seeing and connecting with essence or soul.
