Data protection has become an increasingly important element of compliance for anybody doing business in the past few years. It is especially important for those holding potentially highly sensitive personal information such as psychotherapists. Whether you work in a single-handed practice, or as part of a larger organisation, you will have responsibilities that need to be taken seriously but they do not need to cause undue burden if you follow a pragmatic approach. Seminar is jointly organised by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust (TSP).
David Membrey, a senior consultant at the not-for-profit specialist Adapta Consulting and former deputy chief executive of the Charity Finance Group will be discussing the basics of how an individual psychotherapist should approach data protection. He will also explain some of the most important developments since GDPR came into force in May 2018 and the impact of any other legislation that you need to be aware of. Following the presentation, he will hold a surgery session where he can address specific issues that delegates raise.
