Adult referrals

Founded in 1924, the Institute of Psychoanalysis has trained generations of psychoanalysts many of whom have become leaders in the field of psychoanalysis and mental health. The Institute training has maintained a worldwide reputation for excellence.
Those completing the training become psychoanalysts recognised by the International Psychoanalytical Association and are eligible for registration with the BPC.

Area: Mainly London and the Home Counties but some consultations and referrals are also available nationwide. Some reduced fee psychoanalytic vacancies are available in the North of England as well as in London and surrounding areas. See Reduced fee section.

Frequency: By arrangement with the psychoanalyst.

Fee Structure: Initial consultation £120 or £30 for those on low income.

We have vacancies for low-fee psychoanalysis in both London and surrounding areas through the London Clinic of Psychoanalysis and in the North of England through our Clinical Service North.

The Institute of Psychoanalysis Clinical Services offers a low fee scheme whereby a limited number of low fee places in psychoanalysis are available to those recommended following a Clinic consultation.

Area: Through the London Clinic of Psychoanalysis we have vacancies for London and surrounding areas. In the North of England vacancies will be available in the Leeds, Sheffield and Halifax areas.

Frequency: Five times weekly for 50 minute sessions for a period of at least two years.

Fee Structure: Initial consultation fee London Clinic of Psychoanalysis: full fee £120, for those on low income £30. Clinical Service North Full fee: £75 but lower fees accepted to a minimum of £30. For subsequent analytic sessions, see under minimum fees.

Child referrals (Reduced fee)

Consultation service for children and young people to the of 18-21. Recommendations for further treatment are then made, and this may include recommendation for low fee psychoanalysis.

The London Clinic of Psychoanalysis Child Service has a low fee scheme whereby a limited number of low fee places in psychoanalysis are available to children and young people if this is recommended following a Clinic consultation.

Area: Most low fee analyses are available in the London area, either at the Clinic or at the analyst's private consulting room.

Frequency: Four or five times weekly 50 minute sessions.
