What is Mentalisation Based Treatment?

MBT is an applied psychoanalytically-oriented modality based in substantial research and led by senior clinicians. It is an evidence based psychological therapy originally for borderline personality disorder (BPD), but now developed for other disorders. The training is organised in a stepped system from basic training to practitioner level and then through to supervisor to training levels.

Who are MBT practitioners?

MBT practitioners are qualified health professionals such as Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, or Psychotherapists and will have a sound working knowledge of the development of personality.

What is the training?

Information about the training can be found on the Anna Freud Centre website.
